A Short History of The Piedmont Companies

The Piedmont Companies, Inc., headquartered in Lincolnton, North Carolina is a diversified corporation that encompasses a real estate agency, a general contractor of single-family residences, a modular home retailer, a manufactured home retailer, a residential and commercial developer and property manager, an insurance agency, and a mortgage company. The company was founded by William L. Heafner more than twenty years ago to serve the real estate needs of the Piedmont region of North Carolina.

Since 1985, the companies and their predecessor have sold homes or land to more than 15,000 customers in the five counties of Cleveland, Catawba, Lincoln, Gaston and Iredell, North Carolina. The companies have more than 30 active subdivisions with 400 fully developed lots for sale and 400 more under development. In addition, there are 50 company owned spec and model homes available for sale.

The Piedmont Companies has built more that 50 retail facilities in the Carolinas for several related clients. This has led to negotiations to develop more facilities in the Carolinas, Georgia and Arizona. The company currently has two business parks under development in the Highway 321 Corridor and several others in the Charleston, South Carolina area.
